David & Olia’s Coney Island Engagement Shoot
I’m so excited to announce that my little brother David is engaged! The best part is I got to spend the day with them photographing their Coney Island engagement shoot.
Growing up with two older sisters was not always easy for my brother David. We tortured him to no end, but somehow he turned out to be my best friend, and I know the feeling is mutual…or at least I hope! Somehow the kid that I used to scare with a remote-control bus grew up and is now engaged to be married.
I sometimes hear stories from people about not getting along with their in-laws, so I feel incredibly blessed that David met Olia. She is so sweet in handling my brother’s wacky personality. We are definitely a family of silly one-liners and she is holding her own with us. I truly feel like I am gaining a sister.
David and Olia met in China of all places. Olia was going to school and David had recently moved there to teach English and find adventure. I don’t think he ever thought that the adventure would lead him to his future wife. With all that said, I’d like to share some photographs we took while hanging out in Brooklyn during their recent visit to the States. Olia is from Saint Petersburg, Russia so of course our first stop was the Brighton Beach neighborhood in Brooklyn, a large community of Russian immigrants. I loved all the new food I tried there, especially vareniki — potato stuffed dumplings drenched in butter. Nothing wrong with that!
